Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I didn’t write a blog for February. You know why? Because I’ve been really busy. And sometimes when you’re really busy, and you have a free hour during the day, you don’t want to write a blog. You want to be lazy!
But…I still feel bad for missing my blog-a-month goal. There’s a lot going on in March though, so hopefully we can get a little more frequency going. This blog is just to let you know of a few things that are in the works:
New EP:
I’m currently in the process of speaking with producers/engineers and checking out studios in Portland to record a new EP. It’s going to be 5-7 songs, which I’m still deciding on. If there are certain songs you’d like to hear on the new EP you should email me at reed@reedturner.com. The end of this month marks the 2 year anniversary of my first album’s release, so I’m very excited to get some new material running through your heads.
Texas:
I’m also excited to say that I’ll be spending a lot more time in Texas this year. I’ve got a few irons in the fire that need tending to, so I’ll be spending quite a bit of time in the motherland. For you folks in Austin and surrounding areas, that means one big show every other month or so (April 23rd at Momo’s!), along with several smaller shows around the area.
Wisconsin:
Beloit College show in two weeks! I couldn’t be more excited about this one (well…I could. If it was going to be warm). I met the Beloit students at NACA Northern Plains last year, and they are some of the nicest people the college circuit has to offer. I can’t wait to see their school, meet some more of their friendly students and staff, and play some music for a few hours. It also means I get to spend a couple of days in Chicago, which is one of my favorite cities in the country. Who’s got a couch for me?
Portland:
I know what you’re thinking: “but Reed, if you’re in Texas, does that mean you won’t be here much?” Absolutely not. I love Portland and will still be spending a lot of my time here, and staying as busy as ever. You’ll hardly even know I’m gone. You can drizzle all you want, I’ll still come back.
And last but not least, here’s a video of my new Portland group performing a stripped down version of “On My Own (Traveling Song).” Hope you enjoy it!
