I’m sitting in a McDonald’s right now, waiting for U-Haul to put a trailer hitch on my car (sound familiar?), and I figured this would be a good time to update you all (you all? I’ve been living in Portland too long. I meant y’all. Sorry Texas.) on things. Here goes:
Costa
I just got back from a surfing trip with my buddies in Costa Rica. I got crushed learning how to surf, but I DID learn how to surf. Thanks to Gerry G for putting us up and being such an entertaining host and teacher. If you’re headed to Costa Rica, I strongly recommend that you stay at Playa Grande Surf Camp. Tell Gerry I sent you. I maybe took 2 showers in the 9 days I was there, and changed clothes as many times. I was built for beach life. Also, I couldn’t shave so I decided to try and grow a beard. Last night my cousin’s wife said “what’s this all about?” and pointed to my face. I said “it’s a transition beard,” meaning I was growing it during a transitional period in my life. Her response: “as in…you’re waiting for it to transition into a real beard?” Aren’t you funny…challenge accepted.
EP
The EP is being mastered this week, and we’re looking at a late September release date. Here’s an early draft of the cover art to wet your appetite, courtesy of Kevan Christine:

Bob Schneider
I’ll be opening for Bob Schneider on August 15th at the Saxon Pub! We’ve been trying to get this one set up for a while now, and I’m really excited that it’s worked out this time. He and I can bond since we’ve both dated Sandra Bullock…
Jesse Ruben
Jesse is one of my best friends (and a killer songwriter at that), and he turned 25 on the 27th. Here was his birthday wish: http://jesserubenmusic.tumblr.
He accomplished it! Now go buy the album and help him keep climbing the charts.
Jill McGuckin
I’m excited to announce that I’m now working with PR wiz Jill McGuckin at McGuckin Entertainment. An agent and a publicist? I feel like a real musician. She is doing some amazing things with her clients, and I couldn’t be happier to have her on board. You can see a full client list and find out more information about McGuckin Entertainment here: http://www.mcguckinpr.com/music.php
OK, I’m now sitting in a hotel room in Baker City, OR (The El Dorado Inn…classy). This blog was a two day task for me. I’ve got a long day of driving tomorrow though, so I’m calling it a night. Why do they only serve continental breakfast until 9? What are musicians supposed to do with that?
Lots more to tell you, so stay tuned.

P.S. – Thank you for aunts who give me boxes of granola bars, and cousins who give me bags of nectarines.
